A trade journal, not a showroom
Commercial Lighting publishes long-form Australian guidance on LED systems, workplace design, energy and the standards that sit behind a safe, maintainable installation.
In 2013 this domain sat on a Marsol Industries / LED Lighthouse storefront: wholesale and retail LED globes, downlights, tubes and 12-volt fittings, sold with a running argument about energy, colour ratings and whether imported lamps met Australian safety expectations. The product catalogue is gone. The questions are not.
We rebuilt the site as an independent journal because the people who now ask those questions are specifiers, facility managers, electrical contractors and ESD consultants — not weekend globe shoppers. They need AS/NZS 1680 and AS/NZS 2293 explained in plain Australian English, with the NCC, NABERS and WHS duties in the same room.
We do not sell luminaires. We do not take inventory. When a sentence names a product type it is to help a reader write a specification, not to close a cart. If a future essay includes a paid mention, it will be disclosed and the link will carry rel="sponsored".
What we cover
Offices, warehouses, retail floors, hospitality rooms, car parks, facades, sports fields, controls, emergency systems and the paperwork that keeps them legal. Start at the topic hubs or the article archive.
How we work
Essays are original, written in Australian English, and edited against our editorial standards. Images are Creative Commons or public domain, self-hosted, and listed on the credits page. Corrections go through the contact desk.
People
The current desk. Each name opens a short biography and that author's essays.
Principal lighting designer · Sydney, New South Wales
Elise specifies workplaces, education and civic interiors. She trained in architecture and now spends more time arguing about glare and maintenance access than about pendants.
Electrical contractor and specifier · Melbourne, Victoria
Marcus runs commercial fit-outs and retrofits from high-bays to DALI buses. He writes the essays that start with a switchboard and end with a logbook.
Energy and sustainability editor · Brisbane, Queensland
Priya works on NABERS, Green Star and Section J lighting models. She is unsentimental about payback claims and fond of metering that actually records something.
Industrial and WHS correspondent · Perth, Western Australia
Tom comes from mining services and food plants. He writes about task lighting, emergency systems and the difference between a tidy render and a 2 a.m. forklift aisle.
